Things to Do In London This Weekend – 17th & 18th October

This week has been so full on that I was out for the night as soon as my head hit the pillow. Work’s been incredibly busy, there were after work drinks, leaving lunches, essential winter shopping, visa prep for our upcoming holiday, you name it. But I still have to save some energy for the weekend as we’re going to join Edible Stories for their James Bond themed dinner, which I wrote about last week. I can’t wait. It seems that we spend our Saturdays going out for delicious meals all the time. Sunday’s probably going to be slightly less glamorous as the flat needs some TLC.

For those with a bit more energy, there’s plenty of things to do in London on both, Saturday and Sunday.

Fashion and fashion and fashion! Don’t miss the wonderful retrospective exhibition of the one and only Chanel. It’s called Mademoiselle Privé and it’s on till 1st November at the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea. Exhibition description promises an enchanted journey through the House’s creativity from the Haute Couture, the re-editions of the High Jewellery “Bijoux de Diamants” collection created in 1932 and CHANEL N°5. If you love fashion, then you can’t miss this.

There’s even more. Stylist, everybody’s favourite free magazine, has a whole weekend of good stuff planned for us. Stylist Live is on between 15th and 18th October. It’s on at the Business Design Centre in Islington and in their own words it’s a four-day festival of culture, catwalks, cocktails and conversation hosted by Edith Bowman and Dawn O’Porter.

Wine enthusiasts won’t mind spending £15+ to attend the Wine Show Chelsea this weekend. You’ll be able to taste over 500 award winning wines from all over the world (well, maybe not all 500). Masterclasses will be organised if you want an expert guiding you through the aromatic world of wine.

And the Literary Footprints are still on. Literature fans can enjoy walks around London inspired by novels, visit places that were the setting for some and listen to novels being read. The festival’s on until 25th October. Tickets for individual walks are £10.

Continuing the tradition of constantly adding something food and drink related to my weekends, don’t forget that this week is the Chocolate Week, so the weekend can easily be named Chocolate Weekend as it brings the Chocolate Show to the Olympia National Hall. There’s tastings, workshops and so much more. If you love chocolate, this one’s for you.

Once Upon A Time in America is on at Regent Street Cinema, Britain’s oldest cinema. It’s a film about a former Prohibition-era Jewish gangster that returns to Manhattan 30 years later.

For £55 you can learn everything about beer in Farringdon with a little bit of help from the Brew School. It’s a half day course that includes a full English breakfast and will equip you with beer brewing skills.

If you want to spend some time outdoors, enjoying the crisp autumn air, then join the walk4life free guided walks this weekend. Experienced guides will take you for a walk through lesser know parts of London.
